AssignIQ
in progress
Adam Smith
We’re excited to introduce
AssignIQ
, a new intelligent scheduling and routing tool
designed to streamline visit assignments while considering sitter history, availability, location, workload, blocked sitters, and more
. Instead of manually assigning visits one sitter at a time, AssignIQ evaluates multiple scheduling factors at once
to determine the most efficient assignments and visit sequences
.Developed using
advanced scheduling logic
, AssignIQ creates optimized schedules quickly and efficiently
, balancing sitter workloads and minimizing travel time. You still have full control to review, adjust, and finalize assignments, ensuring flexibility while reducing manual effort. Whether you're assigning a single visit or hundreds across multiple days
, AssignIQ simplifies the process, making scheduling smarter and more efficient. How to Use AssignIQ
- You can setup scheduling preferences for sitters (such as if they provide cat or dog-only care, don’t do overnights, or should never be scheduled) under AssignIQ Behaviorwhen you edit accounts on theStaff > Staff Accountspage.
- Select Visits to Assign– Choose one or more unassigned visits in the scheduler, click theAssignbutton, and then selectAssignIQ. If you don’t want to use AssignIQ for any reason, just select “Direct Assign” (which will be split up into “Groups” or “Individuals” if you use User Groups) to be able to assign manually.
- Review Assignments– AssignIQ will generateoptimized sitter assignments, considering availability, existing schedules, and travel efficiency.
- Make Adjustments– Choose “No” to remove a sitter from a specific visit and then you can choose from the regular sitter list or “Let AssignIQ Select” to re-run that visit through AssignIQ. If you choose “Yes” for a particular visit you have the option to “Set as Primary/Secondary Sitter”. ClickRe-Run AssignIQto generate new assignments based on changes.
- Finalize Assignments– Once you’re satisfied with the schedule, clickFinalize Assignmentsto confirm the selections and notify sitters. Each sitter will receive a single email as if you had assigned the visits to them normally.
- Set Pet Sitter Preferences– Click thePreferencesbutton to open the panel and adjust how much weight AssignIQ gives yourPrimary,Secondary,RecentandNearestsitters on a "None → Max" scale.
- Optimize Routing Only– If you run AssignIQ on visits that are already assigned, you’ll see an option for "Optimize Mode" in the bottom left. Selecting this ensures that sitters remain assigned to their original visits, and AssignIQ will only optimize the visit order for better efficiency. When you then use the "Optimize" button, it will adjust only the routing and sequencing while keeping the same sitters. When you Finalize for Routing Only, sitters will not be notified—only the visit times will be updated to reflect the optimized schedule. This can also be done from Route view, where there is a dedicated "Optimize" button for each sitter.

I am noticing that is it not scheduling sitters in a block, rather it is scheduling the team a few different visits that cannot be completed together. is there a way to fix this?

Is there a way to have it not choose the end of a time bracket? Such as I have 11-1 and there's only one visit for that sitter; it's setting it for closer to 1pm vs 11am

Suppose we don't use the in-app scheduling. I notice that it will pull employees who aren't working. Is there a way around this? Maybe I should request a new feature. It would be great to zap employee schedules into precise. We schedule shifts. Or an option to build out the schedule for accurate routing.

Questions, is there a way to set it so it would assign only 1 person to the entirety of a series of visits (same client, 3x a day for a week), and then let me know if that's not possible and prioritize someone who could do most and suggest the way person for what they couldn't do?
We.alao ask each person whether want an assignment, could we look at the recommendation and then accept it later, or would we need to rerun the scenario after exiting that screen?
Adam Smith
Jenna Gotch: I think the best way to do that would be to use the Pet Sitter Preferences to weigh the assignments to highly favor the sitter you want to be the #1 option (such as if they're Primary, set that to Max and everything else lower). Then when it suggests other sitters you know it's for a very good reason.
It's not possible to accept the recommendation later. If you run it again later it will likely make the same or very similar suggestions though.

It would be great if sitters could use this to optimize their routes each day. Instead of Management needing to do it for them individually
Adam Smith
Jenna Gotch: That can be done in a couple different ways:
First, if you use AssignIQ only on visits that are already assigned there is an "Optimize Mode" checkbox that appears in the bottom left. Check that and then the "Optimize" button.
Second, if you go to Route view there is a shortcut button to Optimize for each sitter.

Am I just stupid or am I overlooking this? Where is this- You can setup scheduling preferences for sitters (such as if they provide cat or dog-only care, don’t do overnights, or should never be scheduled) under AssignIQ Behavior when you edit accounts on the Administrative > Users page.
Adam Smith
Julie Gonzalez It's now Staff > Staff Accounts. This post predates the terminology updates.

Perhaps I just couldn't figure out/find the appropriate settings, but is there a way to set up certain schedule restrictions or mandatory requirements to follow? Specifically, we schedule lunches and breaks for our employees; is there a way to 'ignore' those blocks so that the automations only affect walks? It would be awesome to be able to set parameters/restrictions/etc per walker and or per clients/pets all in one space.
Cool stuff!

This is VERY exciting. Will streamline scheduling in a big way..thank you!

Any updates on this? Any timeline for testing and release? So excited for this feature to launch!!
Adam Smith
Becky O'Neil: This is still actively being tested and improved. However, we do plan on moving to a testing model where individual companies can opt in to test specific features, which would allow you access to this. More on that in the new year.

Adam Smith Any updates on the testing model?
Adam Smith
Becky O'Neil: PPC Labs is ready, we just have something that came out of the survey that we want to address first.
