Specific journal fields for different services
Kaitlyn Kranenberg
Is there be a way to make different service types have different journal options? For example, while house sitting (no pets) we do not need the check list to include bathroom and feeding options.

Specific Journals for Service

Can we have the ability to customize and name journals for different services and attach to that specific service. (Cat visit, Dog walks, daycare, boarding).

Voting this up. This is the same request as "Specific Journals for Service," where Adam asked in August what people would want the journals to be different. I answered that question in detail over on that post, using the workaround several of us are running today and where it breaks on the client side.
Adam, worth merging these two so the votes sit in one place instead of split across two threads asking for the same thing from opposite directions. This one comes at it from "house sitting with no pets does not need feeding and bathroom items." The other comes at it from "dog walk and boarding need different checklists." Same feature.

Journal Checklists Per Service
Flavia Berti
Is there a way to have Specific Journal Checklists for specific services? I would like to have a pet sitting specific checklist, a dog walking specific journal checklist, etc. If I continue to add more things to the general journal checklist it will overwhelm our team.

How would you want the journals to be different?

Adam Smith I would like a journal made specific to our pet visits, daycare pups, and our overnight boarding

Adam Smith answering your question directly, since I do not think you got a real answer yet.
Here is the workaround several of us in the Power User Crew are running today, and exactly where it breaks.
Because there is only one journal checklist, people build headers inside that one list. "Dog Walk" followed by the items for a dog walk, then "Training Walk" followed by the items for a training walk, and so on. The sitter is supposed to find the right block and use it.
Two things go wrong with that. First, the sitter sees every item for every service on every single visit, so the list is long and it is easy to check the wrong block. Second, and this is the one that actually costs us: the client facing journal does not render the headers. So the client sees a flat list of checked items with no indication of which service they belong to. Unless every item literally repeats the service name in its own text, the client cannot tell a dog walk from a training walk from a boarding visit.
So to answer what we want different: not a different journal design per service. Just the checklist item set tied to the service type, so a Dog Walk shows only its items and a Boarding visit shows only its items, and that carries through to the client facing journal so the client sees the right list for the service they bought.
One more thing worth knowing: there is a second post asking for this same feature from the other direction, "Specific journal fields for different services," where the example is house sitting with no pets not needing feeding and bathroom items. Between the two the votes are split. Worth merging them.
