Staff Segments (staff pay groups + more)

This seemingly simple feature brings incredibly powerful capabilities to your management toolkit. Similar to
Client Segments
, Staff Segments
allow you to organize your staff into multiple groupings, tailored to your needs. One of the key ways to group staff is by Date of Hire
, enabling you to automatically create segments based on how long staff members have been working for you (relative to the current date). Here's how you can leverage Staff Segments:- You can set up automatic staff segments on the Operations > Segments > Staff Segmentspage.
- Staff can be segmented based on Date of Hire,Account Type,Tag,Territory, and anycustom search.
- Staff members can belong to multiple Staff Segments simultaneously.
- Individual staff cannot be manually added or removed from a segment --- instead, adjust the segment's criteria to include or exclude them.
- Segment-based Custom Rates: For larger companies, this feature saves significant time by eliminating the need to constantly adjust custom rates for individual staff members. Simply set a rate for the Staff Segment, and the system will apply it automatically.
Note: If a staff member belongs to multiple segments with custom rates, the system will apply the rate from the first segment listed on the
Segments
page (you can reorder this list as needed).
- Segment-based Hourly Pay Rates and Additional Pet Pricing: Set and manage hourly pay rates and custom pricing for additional pets at the segment level.
- Segment-based ANYONE Assignments: Assign visits to an entire Staff Segment. Only staff in that segment will be notified, and they will have the ability to view and accept the visits.
- Send Messages to Staff Segments: From theCommunication > Messagespage, you can send messages directly to any Staff Segment, just like messaging Client Segments.
- Filter Reports and Master Schedule by Staff Segment: Easily search and filter your reports or the Master Schedule by Staff Segment. Don't forget to use theSave Searchoption on the schedule for quick access to frequently used filters.

This had a different name previously? I have never used this feature, but would like to know more about the client segments and how to best utilize it.

I can see where this would be beneficial but for Woofie's I think to be more effective we would need to split out our Pet Sitter/Groomer access into 2 separate categories since the pay structure for a pet sitter is so different then a groomer
Adam Smith
Lydia Best this should already be possible.
#1, you could note somewhere in the Staff Account which they are and then search for that with the Staff Segment.
#2, Since you setup the Segment-based Custom Rates for specific service types then you may not need to do #1 at all because your pet sitting services are already separate from your grooming services.

I just did a test group for my office and assigned visits for Jade Oconnor March 21-27. It does not look like Camila, Jess or myself got an email notification of the visits that were assigned to anyone . The visits were approved, I think they should stay requested until we confirm a pet sitter. Will anyone in this group be able to see the client and pet information? WIll the email include that info? I also think ANYONE groups should not be the first drop down when assigning sitters. I doubt it is something a business will use all the time and it takes up too much real estate in my opinion.

Shannon Centola: I created a ticket to look into this further. I didn't get an email from this comment so you may need to @ me so I get alerted. Still figuring out this platform.

@Adam Smith ok, I did change the appt back to requested with unassigned pet sitter. If you need me to recreate it, let me know. I do like the new big ? Did you know in Chat GPT you can ask PPC questions and it gives good responses. Chat GPT is currently down and you probably knew it worked like that anyway.

Shannon Centola: I'm taking a look now and will respond about it in the ticket.
I created a custom GPT for Precise Petcare, which should give good answers to system questions if you want to stay in ChatGPT instead of using PrecisePAL: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-6787a3e5fb5c8191b42558bd348fbc8e-precise-petcare-advisor

I am trying to test this feature and think it definitely has potential. It is a bit confusing to have the earliest date of hire and latest date of hire for searches that are not related to pay. For example, I am trying to create a group with my Midday Walkers. I selected my tag that I use for a midday dog walker, I selected a group of zip codes that I do midday walks in and I get 0 users. I also get this error messge -, An error was encountered while processing this page. A report of this error has been sent to Tech Support for analysis. If you continue to experience issues please contact adam@precisepetcare.com.. Can you let me know what steps I should be taking to group my Midday walkers together? Thank you
Adam Smith
Shannon Centola There's a bug related to Tags for this functionality. I saw those errors come through and a fix is currently rolling out. I removed the group Tag in the meantime so you'll need to add it back in a bit.
