Modern Interface Update
in progress
Adam Smith
We're introducing a
Modern Interface Update
in PPC Labs. This replaces the existing interface with a cleaner, more focused version of the app, designed to reduce visual clutter and make information easier to read, without changing how the system works.
What This Is
A full visual refresh of the system interface and branded emails.
- Cleaner layout with less visual noise
- More consistent spacing and hierarchy
- More intentional use of color to guide attention
- Easier scanning across schedules, visits, and profiles
- Dark Mode has also been improved and is more consistently dark than before
- Updated branded emails consistent with the new design using clear CTA buttons in place of text links
The goal is to make the system feel
less busy and easier to navigate throughout the day
, especially during high-volume workflows.Why This Matters
Feedback has consistently pointed to the interface feeling
busy or harder to scan
, especially when moving quickly between tasks. This update focuses on:
- Reducing cognitive load when reviewing information
- Making important details easier to identify at a glance
- Improving confidence when taking actions (especially around scheduling and billing)
This is not about changing workflows, it's about making the existing ones
clearer and easier to use consistently
.What's Not Changing
- Core workflows (scheduling, billing, journals, etc.)
- Data, settings, and business logic
- Overall structure and navigation
Most things remain in the same place. This is a visual replacement, not a functional redesign.
How to Enable
Admin → Business Settings → PPC Labs
- Turn Modern Interface UpdateOn
- Takes effect immediately
- Can be turned off at any time
Notes
- This update replaces the existing interface while enabled

Where is this. "Updated branded emails consistent with the new design using clear CTA buttons in place of text links.” I didn’t realize we could do this. We can add our own branding colors?
Adam Smith
Julie Gonzalez: Branding can be updated at Admin > Business Settings > Branding

I agree with Jessica on this and gave my feedback when I turned it right off. I like the idea of being able to move sections around on my dashboard to access the most important on the top but this lack of color totally destroys my ability to see sections! I think if someone wants all white sections they should be able to choose that, but our clients have enough trouble with this software, without losing the ability to easily find sections

I wanted to share some feedback on the Modern Interface while it's still in the testing phase.
The short version: it removes the branding and personality that make the current interface feel like mine.
The existing interface uses my colors and gives the client-facing and admin views a cohesive, personal look. The new interface replaces all of that with a generic gray layout that could belong to any software, and will belong to any pet sitter that uses PPC. For pet sitters specifically, a field where personal brand and trust are everything, that's a significant step backward. In fact, one of the reasons I picked PPC over Time to Pet was the ability to brand the client-facing pages. This change removes that ability.
Beyond the branding loss, the new layout is actually harder to navigate at a glance. The current interface uses color to distinguish sections, which makes it easy to scan quickly. The new interface renders everything in the same grey color palette, so the sections blur together. When I'm in the middle of a busy day and need to pull up client info fast, that's a real usability problem.
I've attached a side-by-side screenshot for reference.
I understand the motivation behind a cleaner, more modern UI, and I'm absolutely not opposed to a refresh. But the redesign seems to have deprioritized both customization and visual hierarchy, and I think that's going to be a problem for a lot of people.
Happy to elaborate further if it's helpful.
Thanks for asking for feedback before the rollout. I hope this is useful.

Jessyca Nagorski Thank you for this! I immediately turned it off.

Jessyca Nagorski: Thank you so much for your detailed feedback-we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. We've been hearing similar input from others as well, and you're absolutely right that
maintaining branding is an important part of the experience
.With that in mind, we've made some updates and have additional refinements in progress:
- Full branding has been restored in the navigation sidebar, which is included in today's release
- For section headers, we're continuing to avoid fully branded background colors, as these can feel visually overwhelming (especially with darker color palettes) and can contribute to a more dated appearance
- We also recognize that this change can feel more noticeable depending on your brand colors, particularly for those using darker tones
To strike a better balance, we're working on:
- Introducing subtle branded accents within section groupingsto improve visual clarity and maintain brand identity
- Expanding the use of branding in other areas of the interface, now that the overall design is lighter and less visually dense
Our goal is to create an interface that feels both
modern and distinctly yours
, without overwhelming the user. We'll continue refining this balance, and your feedback plays a key role in guiding those improvements. Please feel free to keep sharing your thoughts, we're always listening.

Adam Smith Thank you for the quick response! I look forward to seeing how the section accents and other branding updates come together 😊

Jessyca Nagorski agreed. I do like the PIL outline shapes rather than the boxy look but having the color helps organize things mentally for me. I also wonder how all that light shading would look for someone who is color blind without the definition of shading?

And be able to easily move things around on the schedule without it readjusting would be nice so I can plan routes for sitters and they can follow their schedule
Melissa Martin
With redesign, the ability to customize the fields that you see on the mobile app schedule....ie address, lockbox code, door pad code, etc. so that it is handy.
